My Advocacy Journey
Experience & Approach
I am an educational advocate in Massachusetts with over 20 years of experience advancing the rights of children with disabilities—a path that began with advocating for my child with autism, childhood apraxia of speech, and dyslexia.
For almost two decades, I worked with the dedicated team at Massachusetts Advocates for Children to champion the rights of children and families as a public information specialist, supervisor of the Young Adult Leaders Fellowship for young adults with disabilities, and as an advocate, working individually with parents. In these roles, I participated in statewide initiatives to promote inclusive education, trained parents to navigate special education laws, and supported them in effectively participating in IEP Team meetings. I also facilitated interactive workshops, trainings, and support groups for hundreds of parents, and engaged in legislative and systemic advocacy to protect and expand the rights of students with disabilities.
Today, in my private advocacy practice, I draw on my strong foundation and experience to not only join with parents in sharing knowledge and strategies about special education laws but also offer continued guidance as they move through a system that can be overwhelming, challenging, and deeply emotional. I help parents build the confidence, and strategies they need to be their child’s strongest advocate and to work effectively with schools to secure the services and supports their children deserve.
